(المرأة هي النصف الجميل والحنون للمجتمع)، أحداث رواية (اليمامة) تسير في اتجاهين متعارضين. الرجال يحاولون دفع الأمور نحو الشكل الوحشي الذي يلائم روحهم، لتحقيق غاياتهم الشخصية، أما النساء – وعلى رأسهن بطلة الرواية المحامية هدى – فتحاولن دفع الأمور نحو الشكل السلمي الذي يلائم روحهن، لتحقيق مصلحة المجتمع بأكمله. ومن خلال هذا التناقض في الاتجاهين، نجد المحامية هدى تحاول استغلال هذا التناقض، لتعرضه في قاعة المحكمة، بهدف إظهار الظلم في حق المرأة الذي تعاني منه النساء، وخاصة في المجتمع الإسلامي المعاصر، لذلك فهي تطلب مساعدة أحد أساتذة كلية الشريعة، لتستطيع إظهار التناقض بين القوانين العدلية المستخدمة في الدول الإسلامية وتعاليم الدين الإسلامي. ونتيجة هذا التعاون بين الفكر العدلي والفكر الديني الأخذ أحداث الرواية شكلاً جديداً، يضع علماء الشريعة المعاصرين في موقف حرج، يفرض عليهم إعادة النظر في قوانين الزواج في الإسلام. أحداث الرواية – في البداية – قد تبدو بسيطة ومألوفة، ولكن سيطرة فكر المرأة على تطور هذه الأحداث يعطيها حبكة مشوَّقة غير مألوفة في عالم الروايات، تجعل القارئ يتابع قراءة تطور الأحداث بلهفة، والتساؤل عن سبب غرابة تصرف بطلة الرواية. رواية اليمامة هي إجابة عن رأي سكان الغرب الذين يعتقدون أن الظلم الذي تعاني منه المرأة في المجتمعات الإسلامية سببه الدين الإسلامي نفسه.
