قد يتراءى للقراء غير المتعمقين أن المرحوم الإمام الخميني بوصفه باحثاً ومحققاً، ناثر جيد، ولكن لا يتوقع منه أن يكون شاعراً مجيداً أيضاً. حيث إن الخميني الشاعر، شأنه شأن كبار شعراء التصوف الآخرين، يتغزل بالمحبوب ويرجو وصاله، وهو أيضاً يتغزل بالصفات الجسدية لمحبوبه. ولكن من الواضح تماماً أن هذا المحبوب هو صورة الرب تعالى، وأن التفاصيل الجسدية التي يجري التغزل بها إنما هي رموز مقصودة، وأن الاماكن التي يتردد ذكرها في أشعاره إنما يراد بها عالم اللاهوت. فالصور العرفانية في شعر الإمام الخميني جديدة وحديثة العهد، تم نظمها في أواخر حياة الإمام. سيجد القارئ في هذا الديوان أن وصفه الجميل وتعابيره الآسرة ليس منطلقها ومنتهاها جمال الشكل ورقة الترنيم وعذوبة النغم واجتذاب القارئ أو السامع، بل السير الى الله والسعي لرضاه.
