الكتاب يستعرض الكثير من قصص القرآن الكريم، وقد استفاد من عدة مراجع من كتب: التفسير، والحديث، والسّير. وافتتح الكتاب بذكر أسماء الرسل المصرَّح ذكرهم في القرآن الكريم، ثم ابتدأ بذكر قصة آدم عليه السلام، وما فيها من استدلالات واستنباطات. وأورد بعدها قصة قابيل وهابيل، وموقف الإنسان أمام الفتنة، وكيف تعلم قابيل من الغراب طريقة الدفن. ثم ذكر قصة نوح عليه السلام، وموقفه من قومه، وموقف زوجه منه، وبعض الآيات التي تتعلق به عليه السلام. ثم أورد قصة إدريس عليه السلام، وسبقه في الأوليات، وسبب رفعه، ثم قصة هود عليه السلام، ثم قصة صالح عليه السلام، وقصة سيدنا إبراهيم عليه السلام، والعزير، ولوط عليه السلام، ويوسف الصديق عليه السلام، وقصة سيدنا موسى عليه السلام، وبَلْعَام بن باعُوراء، وقارون، وقصة البقرة، ثم ساق قصة سيدنا داود عليه السلام، وقصة سليمان عليه السلام، وقصة هاروت وماروت، وقصة زكريا ويحيى عليهما السلام، وقصة أيوب عليه السلام، وقصة يونس عليه السلام، وقصة أصحاب الكهف، وقصة أصحاب الجنة، وقصة أصحاب الأخدود، وقصة سيدنا عيسى عليه السلام، وقصة أصحاب الفيل، وقصة أحد، وقصة زيد وزينب رضي الله عنهما، وقصة الخندق، وختم الكتاب بقصة ثعلبة، وهي لا تصح سنداً ولا متناً، وبقصة الإفك.
