كان منيف الرزاز يكتب وعين الرقيب تترصد كل حركاته. وقد كتب هذه الرسالة وهو يتوقع أن يصادرها الرقيب الذي في الإقامة الجبرية. كان منيف الرزاز يجمع بين الفكر والنضال، كتب أهم كتبه حول الديمقراطية وحقوق الإنسان، وضرورة التعددية عام 1952، حيث فاز كتابه "معالم الحياة العربية الجديدة" بجائزة جامعة الدول العربية عام 1952 وفي السبعينات كتب "فلسفة الحركة القومية" بجزئيه حيث نشر الجزءان الأول والثاني، وصودرت مخطوطة الجزء الثالث وهو في الإقامة الجبرية. وقد حاول في هذين الكتابين الانفتاح على الفكر الماركسي من موقع قومي؛ إلا أن هاجس الرزاز المستمر والذي أدى إلى دفعه ثمناً باهظاً في حياته هو انحيازه لحقوق الإنسان، فقد كانت حقوق الإنسان بالنسبة إليه فوق الولاء للحزب وفوق أي شعار آخر. وكان منيف الرزاز طبيباً شعبياً وإنسانياً، يحب مرضاه فرداً فرداً، ويقيم علاقات إنسانية معهم... هو ذا منيف الرزاز، وهو غير هذا... فقد كانت حياة هذا الرجل ثرية... وعلى هذه الصفحات رسالة طويلة كتبها لأولاده... وفي ذهنه أن يكتب سيرته الذاتية بأسلوبه الخاص، فبدأ بطفولته في دمشق وخواطره عن حماة وعينه على عمان... الآن يد المنون اختطفت روحه قبل أن تكتمل هذه الأوراق..
