"ولدي نزار، حاولت مرات أن أكتب لك، أن أكتب عنك، كنت أمسك بقلمي، وأهيئ نفسي، أسرح فيك، أستحضر صورتك، كلماتك، فلعلك، كل شيء فيك. يتراجع القلم، ويجف مداره. قلمي فرس هرون يأبى المسير، استحثه، همهماته هربشات على الورق لا معنى لها، لا فعل فيها. حاولت، كما قلت لك، مرات ومرات، كنت في كل مرة ألوي عنق قلمي، وأكسر كلماتي، ان ما أريده أن أحدثك عن الفعل، وأنت الفعل نفسه، فكيف يكون ذلك؟ لا أدري، أعجب من نفسي وأتراجع. حسناً، لا تحزن، حبي لك أكبر من تأبي عنك، أكبر من كل الأسباب التي تدعوني للخوف والتردد، سأكتب لك عن كل شيء وفي كل شيء، وأنت أكتب لي في كل شيء، وعن كل شيء، يجب أن تكون معي وأكون معك، لن أسمح لحيطان وأبواب مغلقة أن تبعدني عنك. سأجعل زنزانتك واحة أو معبراً إلى ذاتي، ذاتك، وأنت يا ولدي افعل ذلك، حدثني عن نفسك، لا تيأس، لا تندم، فما قمت به مدعاة للفخر". يصر سمير شحادة على تدوين "نزار" في كل مكان، ويصدر هذا الكتاب في غفلة من المسافة والزمن. وليس في الكتاب سوى مرارة الاحتجاج على سير الأشياء وسيرة الشخوص، على أنه يسأل أسئلته المعذّبة والشريدة على بواطن الأرصفة وغبار الطرق فيما يتلهى المارة لدى الفلسطينيين من حال. وسمير شحادة لم يقل كل شيء، بل لم يستطع قول كل شيء، وحتى أن دمعة العذاب لم تجد منفذها. لماذا اختطف الموت "باسمة" الطفلة حين قرر نزار أن يقتل الموت ولماذا اختطف الموت "رامي" في ذات اللحظات، ولماذا اختفى نزار في الحديد، ولماذا سوّر الفلسطينيون القلق وأغرهم في عتمة النداء.
