البداية كانت في نهاية الثمانينات، وبداية التسعينات، من القرن العشرين... الفساد كان قد بدأ يضرب جذوره في المجتمع بعمق... والقانون كان يقف عاجزاً عن مواجهته، في الكثير من الأحيان... ومن هنا، ابتكرت شخصية (العقرب)... شخصية أسطورية، تحمل خلف قناع صاحبها بحثاً عن جواب لسؤال محير... أيهما أكثر أهمية؟!... القانون؟ّ... أم العدالة؟!... وكانت اول سلسلة تهاجم الفساد، من خلال رمز واحد... رمز (العقرب)... وعندما جاءت فكرة جمعها كتابين كبيرين، وجدت أن اسلوب بداياتها يمكن تعديله، أو إعادة صياغته لغوياً، دون الإخلال بالمعنى والهدف والمضمون... ولكنني استقريت، على أنه من الأفضل أن يتم تقديمها كما هي... كما تمت كتابتها، منذ أكثر من عقدين من الزمن... وهكذا ظهرت إلى الوجود... فـ(العقرب) ليس مجرد سلسلة... إنه تاريخ... والتاريخ لا يصح تعديله، أو حتى تحسينه... ولست أدري ما إذا كان قراري صائباً أم لا... احكموا أنتم.
