لا شك أن صناعة البرمجيات "Software Industry"، هي من أهم الصناعات الحديثة التي أحدثت تغييراً تقنياً واسعاً وجذرياً في التطور الصناعي العالمي ومفهوم التقدم العلمي على نحو مماثل؛ إنها أداة قوية لتطوير مجتمعات العصر. على الرغم من التطور الدائب والمتسارع جداً، لعملية إنتاج برمجيات الحاسوب Computer Software Production، إلا أنها ما تفتأ تواجه الصعوبات تلو الصعوبات والمشكلات تلو الأخرى؛ إذ أن المتطلبات البشرية لأداء مختلف الأعمال والمهام تتزايد بشكل كبير، وتتفاقم إحتياجات الإنسان في شتى شؤون الحياة، الأمر الذي يتطلب إشباعها بواسطة المحاكاة البرمجية الحاسوبية Computer Software Simulation. يهدف هذا الكتاب، إلى تقديم مادة علمية متخصصة، سهلة التناول، بقدر ما، للتعرف على أهم آليات نظم الحاسوب، وتركيبها، وفهم التحليل البرامجي والقيام به على أسس سليمة، ومن ثم تصميم النظم، ونمذجتها، بإستخدام أهم المناهج والتقنيات العلمية الحديثة؛ حتى يمكن للطالب/ المتخصص أن يستوعب الأسس والمرتكزات التطبيقية الضرورية في هذا الجانب الهام جداً في علوم الحاسوب، خاصة هندسة البرمجيات؛ وذلك بدءاً بدراسة نظرية النُظُم في مجال الحاسوب، كأساس لا يمكن الإستغناء عنه في هذا السياق، وإنتهاءً بالإطلاع على أهم منهجيات النمذجة الشيئية، مروراً بمنظور التحليل، ودراسة الجدوى، وتقنيات الحصول على البيانات والمعلومات، وتوثيقها عملياً، ودراسة أصول التصميم، والنمذجة التطبيقية، بأهم النماذج والمناهج المستخدمة بالخصوص؛ وقد انتهى كل فصل من الفصول بخلاصة، وتمرينات مناسبة، لمراجعة إستيعاب الموضوعات. وفي آخر الكتاب أرفق مسرداً بالكلمات والمصطلحات الإنجليزية المستخدمة، ثم قائمة بالمصادر والمراجع، وإن هذا الكتاب هو حصيلةُ عدد من المحاضرات والتطبيقات، وبعضٌ من الخبرة العملية في موضوعه.
