خلق الإنسان وقد ميّزته ملكة فرقته عن سائر المخلوقات، كانت ملكة الكلام والتخاطب مع أبناء جنسه من البشر، وكما يقال: "اللّسان آلة البيان"، وبه نحا الإنسان مناحي شتى في كلامه وصفات تخاطبه وما هيّئت له من مواقف تناسبها.
وقد تعدّدت أوجه التّخاطب الإنساني بتنوّعها بين الخطابات الكتابيّة والشّفويّة، وكان الخطاب الحجاجيّ في هذه وتلك؛ إذ يعدّ ركيزة النّصوص الموجّهة المتضمّنة للمقصديّة والنّقاش والنقد والجدل، والتي منها: النّصوص القرآنيّة، والفلسفيّة، والفقهيّة، والأدبيّة.
ولم تكن دراسة النّص الحجاجيّ حديثة ولا من مستجدّات العصر، إنّما يوغل بها التاريخ إلى اليونان وما جاء في مؤلّفات "أرسطو"، ولا سيما عن الخطابة، ثم ما توارثه العب عن أصول الخطابة ومميّزات الخطيب، إنتهاء إلى الإرث الفكريّ الضّخم الذي أحاط بكلّ ما يمكن أن يطرأ على هذا النّص من خلال تطبيقات كبار المفكّرين والفلاسفة والفقهاء على مختلف النّصوص: القرآنيّة، والفلسفيّة، والكلاميّة...
ومن هنا، جاءت فكرة البحث في مجال: الخطاب الحجاجيّ بمنظور حديث، كميدان بكر لا سيما في الدّراسات العربيّة الحديثة، يغري بإستطلاع ماهيته، والوقوف على أهمّ أنواعه وخصائصه في الفكر العربيّ الحديث، حيث أنه درس تحت عناوين مختلفة بإختلاف توجّهات أصحابها، وهذا الإختلاف بقي قيد مدوّنات معيّنة دون أن يطال المؤلّفات الأدبيّة - التي لا تتضمّن في نظر كثير من الدّراسين خطاباً حجاجياً صريحاً - وكان هذا حافزاً يبعث على محاولة البحث عن خطاب حجاجي شبه مكتمل المعالم - إستناداً إلى بعض الدّراسات - في مدوّنة أدبيّة لعلم من أعلام الحجاج الأدبّي والإصلاح الإجتماعيّ معاً، وهو "الرافعي" في كتابه "كتاب المساكين".
