أهم ما يميَز هذا الكتاب أنه كتب داخل سجون العدو، ومؤلفه الذي إعتقل عام 1969، وحكم عليه بالسجن لمدة 20 يوماً، ما زال يقبع خلف قضبان هذه السجون. إن الذين عاشوا تجربة كتجربة فاضل يونس، هم وحدهم القادرون على معرفة صعوبة كتابة المذكرات او اليوميات داخل سجون العدو، فمثل هذا العمل يعرض صاحبه لأشد العقوبات، كما أن إخراج المخطوطة من السجن إلى الخارج هو عمل اشد صعوبة ومحفوف بالمخاطر. ومع كل ذلك نجح المناضل فاضل يونس في تأليف هذا الكتاب ونجح أيضاً في إخراج مخطوطته من السجن إلى الضفة الغربية المحتلة حيث وصلت إلينا. ولد المناضل فاضل يونس عام 1945 في قرية عرعرة بمنطقة المثلث، وبعد إغتصاب فلسطين عام 1948، لجأ مع عائلته إلى منطقة نابلس، وأتم تعليمه في الزرقاء ومرج تعجه والجفتلك. غادر إلى الكويت عام 1961، وإلتحق بدوره بحرية في الهند وتقلد بعد ذلك منصب مساعد كابتن في البحرية الكويتية. بعد حرب حزيران عام 1967، التحق بحركة التحرير الوطني الفلسطيني "فتح" وإنضم إلى قوات الثورة في لبنان، ومن هناك قاد مجموعة بحورية كانت تتولى مهمة تزويد مجموعات داخل فلسطين المحتلة بالسلاح والمتفجرات، تنقل ليلاً بواسطة قوارب سريعة إلى منطقة قريبة من شاطئ عكا حيث يتم إلقاؤها في البحر، بعد أن يتم ربطها بعوامات خاصة، بينما تتولى المجموعات العاملة في الداخل إنتشالها صباحاً ونقلها بواسطة قوارب صيد إلى الأماكن المخصصة لها حيث تستعمل في العمليات الفدائية داخل فلسطين المحتلة. وبعد إكتشاف امر هذه المجموعة قامت سلطات العدو بأسر أفرادها من الداخل والخارج، وحكمت على قائد المجموعة فاضل يونس بالسجن لمدة 20 عاماً، أمضى منها إلى الآن 13 عاماً تنقل خلالها بين معظم سجون الإحتلال الإسرائيلي، مما إكتسبه معرفة وخبرة في أساليب العدو الوحشية في معاملة المعتقلين العرب، وأغنى تجربته الكتابية أيضاً.
