"ولو قيل لي اجمع الإلحاد في كلمةٍ واحدة، لا يجاوز وصفُه رسمها، ولا تندّ حقيقتُه عن حرفها، لقلت "التّوهم"! ولو تمثّل "العدمُ" غرضًا يُطلب، وأملًا يُرتجى تحصيله، لكان العدمُ هو غاية الملحد من هذه الحياة، ينطلقون من وهمٍ معدوم، ويطمعون في عدمٍ متوهم"! "وقد قسّمت هذا الكتاب قسمين، يتناول القسم الأول منه موقف الإلحاد من الطبيعة والعلم الطبيعي، ذلك الموقف الذي يعده الملحد دستورًا لإلحاده، وفرقانًا يعرّف به عن حاله .. أما القسم الثاني من الكتاب فهو يعرض موقف الإلحاد من الموت والانتحار، والمعنى من الوجود والغاية من الحياة، يتناول البؤس الذي ينبغي أن يملأ حياة الملحد، والخواء الذي يستشعره في شأنه كله، والموت الذي يجب أن ينغص عليه الالتذاذ بحياته، والانتحار المستساغ في فلسفة إلحاده"! "وطريقتي في هذه المقالات أنّها أزواج، مقالةٌ يطغى عليها الأسلوب العلمي يكثر فيها التقرير والاستشهاد، تعقبها مقالةٌ يغلبها الطابع الأدبي ... وغايتي من عرض الكتاب على هذه الصورة الجديدة الغريبة، بمقالةٍ يطغى عليها الأسلوب العلمي ثم مقالةٍ يغلبها الطابع الأدبي .. وهكذا، غايتي أن أدخُل على نفس القارئ من كل باب، وأن نطوف سويًّا نطرق سبيل العقل تارة وندق باب القلب تارة". هذه المقتطفات من مقدمة الكتاب تدلك على ما أنت بصدده، أنت بصدد كتاب يتناول الكثير من أطروحات الإلحاد العلمي والإلحاد النفسي، من موقع هجومي على عبثية الإلحاد، والكتاب غنيّ بالاقتباسات المباشرة من رؤوس الإلحاد الجديد، ويخاطب العقل والعاطفة، بما يجعله مناسبًا للباحثين والسائلين على السواء.
