له مؤلفات كثيرة من بينها "نهاية السوق الحرة: من الذي يربح الحرب بين الأمم والشركات" و"المنحنى جي: طريقة جديدة لنهوض الأمم وسقوطها".

يوضح آيان بريمر في الكتاب الحالي التحول التأريخي في النظام الدولي والاقتصاد العالمي، ولحظة عدم التأكد العولمي التي لم يسبق لها مثيل حيث لا توجد هناك، ولأول مرة خلال سبعة عقود، القوة المفردة أو تحالف القوى المستعد لتبني تحديات القيادة العولمية. فقبل جيلٍ مضى كانت الولايات المتحدة واليابان مخازن طاقة عالمية وديمقراطيات السوق الحر التي دفعت الاقتصاد العولمي نحو الأمام، وهي تناضل اليوم من أجل إيجاد موطىء قدم لها . ويؤكد المحلل الجغرافي السياسي آيان بريمر بأن هيكل القوة العالمي يواجه فراغ القيادة. وقد نتج عن القيم السياسية والاقتصادية المختلفة لمجموعة العشرين كارثة عولمية مع المطالب الملحة للأزمة المالية. ولم تكن الحاجة إلى التعاون الدولي أكبر في العالم الذي تتعالى فيه الكثير من التحديات على الحدود ـ من استقرار الاقتصاد العولمي وتغير المناخ إلى الهجمات الفضائية والإرهاب وأمن الغذاء والمياه، وسوف تثير قلة القيادة العولمية حالة عدم التأكد والتنافس، وفي بعض الحالات الصراع المفتوح. كذلك يوضح بريمر خطورة أن العالم سيصبح سلسلة من المجتمعات المبوّبة نظراً لأقلمة القوة لا عولمتها. يقدم الكتاب الحالي التبصّرات الأساسية لكل امرىء يحاول الإبحار في ساحة المباريات العولمية الجديدة .
