جدتي "أم زعل" والتراث توأمان... كنت أنظر إلى كل ما يحيط بها... وكبرت عاشقة لكل ما صنعته أيدي الجدات. جاءت هذه القصة ترجمة صادقة لتجربتي الشخصية مع جدتي التي مثلت لي التراث الجميل الأصيل المليء بألوان الخصب والمحبة. استوحيت فكرة القصة بعد مشاهدتي لعرض مسرحي خلال دراستي في أمريكا، وتحضيري لمشروع تخريجي لنيل درجة الماجستير في مسرح الدمى. قدم العرض على أنه مستوحى من الشرق الأوسط، وعلى أنه يقدم هذه الحضارة بصورة جميلة، بينما كان في الواقع استمراراً للصورة النمطية للعرب في الغرب وللمرأة بشكل خاص، وهي مغطاة بالعباءة السوداء، تركض خلف الرجل دون هوية أو شخصية. استفزني العرض، وقررت أن يكون محور عملي المسرحي تراثنا الغني الأصيل وبالتحديد أزياؤنا الشعبية الأردنية والفلسطينية التي اعتبرها شخصاً كنزاً ثميناً، واستوحيت شكل الجدة من جدتي والعلاقة التي كانت تربطني بها. لاقى العرض نجاحاً كبيراً وشجعني الحضور على إصداره بشكل قصة أطفال ليكون دعوة صادقة لكل العاملين في مجال ثقافة الطفل كي يعملوا على تعزيز انتماء صغارنا لجذورهم ووطنهم ليحافظوا على هويتهم وإرثهم الثقافي.
