أردتُ أن أقيّل ذات يوم فلم يستجب لي النعاس و بقيت أتقلب في الفراش ثم نهضت في طلب ما أملأ به فراغي و أشغل به نفسي حتى تنقضي الهاجرة، فعمدت إلى رفّ مهجور به كتب قديمة و أوراق مبعثرة غمرها الغبار و الأتربة فجعلتُ أنفض و أطالع .. غالبها في تاريخ بلادنا سئمتُ و ألقيت بالورق و أخذت أقلب بعض الأدوات هناك، أقلام من قصب و دوايات جافة وجدت بين ذلك مرآة مكبرة فأخذتها و تأملتها فإذا بي أتبيّن في حاشيتها كتابة بالخط الكوفيّ العتيق هذا نصها : "مرآة النور لقراءة ما بين السطور" فبادرت إلى أوراق صفر و وضعتُ المرآة بينها و بين عيني و قرأتُ.. قرأتُ ما شفى غليلي. من ذلك ما نقلته إلى القرّاء الكرام لما فيه من تاريخ بلادنا و الوقوف على حوادث نسمعها من كبارنا و لا ندري موضعها من التاريخ.
