"بل سرعان ما ينقض غزله مراراً، ويصرح في مكان بما ينفيه في آخر، ويحتج في مكان بما يرفضه في آخر، فهو تارة يحتج بابن حزم لما يوافق هواه، وتارة يحتج بغيره من الفقهاء القائلين بالقياس، وتارة يجعل القياس علامة على الجمود والتقليد، وتارة يجعل الإجماع محل خلاف، وتارة يقول اتفقوا على كذا متى ما رآه قد يعزز كلامه، وتارة يقول الإجماع يسحق الفرد كونه يتحاكم إلى العقل الجمعي، وتارة يخرج عن الجميع ويصير باطنياً في تفسير النصوص باعتبار وجود احتمالات قائمة يعارض بها ظواهر النصوص! وتارة يجد النصوص واسعة تحتمل التفسيرات والتأويلات وما تلك الاحتمالات إلا المعاني البعيدة التي لا يصار إليها إلا بتأويل وهو خلاف الأصل، لكن ما يجده موافقاً له وإن لم يكن عند التحقيق كذلك يقول بأنه اجتهاد يعلو فوق كل اجتهاد! ومرة يحتج بكلامه بحديث ولو كان مرسلاً، وتارة يرفض الآحاد في الحدود رأساً، وتارة يستدل بظواهر النصوص، وتارة يسارع إلى نقض ما بناه بتعليل أكثر توافقاً مع الإعلان العالمي منه إلى النصوص بمجملها"
