الأدب الشعبي والعادات والتقاليد هي معبر الشعوب باتجاه التطور والتقدم ودائماً نجد بين الأزمان فواصل بين القديم والحديث. لذا يغوص الإنسان مسترجعاً جزءاً من تاريخه المكتسب عن الأجداد والمرتبط بقيم دينية وإنسانية وذلك بهدف التقييم والتعرف على هذه الفنون والعادات الموروثة وهل تلك العادات والتقاليد تشكف له عن ذاته لكي يوغل أكثر في عملية التقمص أو أنها لا ترضيه وسيجد بأنها خلقت له صراعاً داخل نفسه. وقد كانت الحكايات الشعبية وسائر فنون العشب غير مدونة وغير مقررة في الجامعات. ولكن اتجه الاهتمام الآن إلى تدوينها على صعيد الدولة في اليمن، إلى جانب ذلك تم إصدار مجلات خاصة بها. ويأتي هذا الكتاب ضمن دائرة هذا الاهتمام بالأدب الشعبي لعل الأجيال تستفيق لتنبش الموروث لتطوره لأن ملامح الأمس تختلف عن ملامح اليوم، ومسألة التأسيس الثقافي والفني هي حاجة ضرورية لا للانتظار والعيش في القالب الضيق الذي لا يقود الشعوب إلا إلى الانكسار والعجز.
