الدراهم الفضية كانت تأتي أهميتها بعد الدنانير الذهبية والدراهم هي أجزاء للدنانير حيث كانت أقيام بعض المواد أقل من قيمة الدينار، وقد سكت الدراهم العربية على الطراز الساساني منذ العصر الراشدي، وبعد فتح العراق، حيث وجد الفاتحون في المدائن (طيسفون) عاصمة الدولة الساسانية بالعراق قبل الإسلام حيث ترك الساسانيون العديد من دور السك للنقود الساسانية بكامل عددها.
وقد نقش المسلمون الفاتحون على حافة قوالب سك النقود الساسانية كلمات وعبارات بالعربية منها البسملة (بسم الله) و(بركة) و(محمد) وغيرها من الكلمات العربية حيث نقشوها بصورة غائرة ومعكوسة وعند السك ظهرت بارزة وبالصورة الصحيحة وقد استمر هذا النمط حتى سنة 78 هجرية حيث عربت الدراهم الفضية وتخلصت من التأثيرات، الساسانية، وقد سكت الدراهم العربية الإسلامية في العديد من المدن العربية الإسلامية، حيث حملت الدراهم الأموية سورة الإخلاص، في حين حملت الدراهم العباسية عبارة (محمد رسول الله) بدلاً من سورة الإخلاص وقد حملت الدراهم الأموية وخاصة في السنوات الأخيرة من عمر الدولة الأموية بعض الشعارات منها شعار الدعوة العباسية منذ سنة 127 هجرية وفي سنة 128 هجرية حملت شعار الخوارج (لا حكم إلا الله).
هذا ملخص صغير لتاريخ الدراهم الإسلامية، ويأتي هذا الكتاب في سد الفراغ في المكتبة العربية في مجال علم المسكوكات.
كانت تأتي أهمية الدراهم الفضية بعد الدنانير الذهبية حيث كانت إقيام بعض المواد أقل من قيمة الدينار هذا ما شرحه الكتاب .
