نبذة النيل والفرات: مما لا شك فيه أن الرسم الهندسي ضرورة حياتية كونه تعتمد عليه دراسات وتصاميم مختلفة، وهو لغة عالمية محددة بقواعد وإصطلاحات من شأنها تسهيل لغة التفاهم ونقل الأفكار الهندسية بين المختصين، والرسم الهندسي تكمن أهميته في عمليات التنفيذ الخاصة بكل أنواع التصميم، حيث يرمي الرسم الهندسي إلى ترجمة الأفكار العلمية الهندسية إلى حيز التنفيذ، كما يهدف الرسم الهندسي إلى سهولة نقل التقدم التكنولوجي من مجتمع لآخر كي لا يبقى حصراً على مجتمع معين. والرسم الهندسي هو المادة البديلة عن الأجسام التي تحتوي على كافة التفاصيل والمواصفات والمقاييس، وتجدر الإشارة أن للرسم الهندسي فوائد غير مباشرة، فهو يذكي ملكة الخيال للمهندسي والرسام بحيث يصبح قادراً على التخيل والإبتكار، والتعبير بطرق توضيحية بسيطة عملية تساعد على بلورة فكرة ما وتجسيم معانيها. ويتوقف مدى التحصيل في الرسم الهندسي على التدريب الكامل والمعرفة الدقيقة بآليات الرسم الهندسي، الذي من شأنه ترسيخ المعلومات والمهارات والتخطيط الذهني؛ والرسم الهندسي بدونه يستحيل التنظيم الصحيح لمسارات الإنتاج في قطاعات مختلفة مثل قطاع البناء والصناعة والإنشاءات، وإذا ما أردنا أن ندخل في مجال الإنشاء والبناء والصناعة وجب علينا أن نتقن مهارات وعمليات الرسوم الهندسية والتنفيذية. لذلك بيّن المؤلف في هذا الكتاب أسس إكتساب المهارات الضرورية في الرسم الهندسي وذلك بشكل سلس ومترابط بحيث لا يجوز إغفال أي وحدة فيه أو تقديم إحداها على الأخرى.
