يتوجه هذا الكتاب إلى طلاب الإعلام والمشتغلين في شتى مجالات الإعلام بصفة خاصة، وطلاب المعرفة بصفة عامة، لأن من شأنه أن ييسر لهم جميعاً، مرجعاً سريعاً، لمعرفة معنى المصطلحات الإعلامية باللغة الإنجليزية، ومدلولها باللغة العربية، وليكون بمثابة عون لإسعاف ذاكرتهم عند استشارتهم للكتب والمراجع... الخ، ويؤدي الغرض المطلوب من تمهيد الطريق للمزيد من الدرس والمعرفة في شتى مجالات الأعلام. فإن هذا القاموس يشتمل على نحو ثمانية آلاف مصطلح باللغتين الإنجليزية والعربية، تغطي معظم موضوعات وجوانب علوم الأعلام المتشعبة في أهم مجالاتها كالصحافة، ووكالات الأنباء، والإذاعة، والتليفزيون، والسينما، والمسرح، والتصوير، والعلاقات العامة، والإعلان، والطباعة، والنشر، والكتب، وغير ذلك من المجالات المرتبطة ارتباطاً وثيقاً بالأعلام. وقد وضع المؤلف في اعتباره أن تكون المصطلحات الإعلامية في هذا القاموس شاملة قدر الإمكان لكل ما حوته أحدث المصادر التي رجعت إليها في مجال الإعلام، وفي مقدمتها الكتب والمراجع والقواميس (الإنجليزية العربية)، و(العربية الإنجليزية) المتاحة.. وقام بترتيب المصطلحات على حسب ترتيب الحروف الهجائية الإنجليزية، مع استبعاد كلمة (the) وكلمة (to). مما يساعد على استخراج المصطلح المطلوب في أقصر وقت دون مشقة، وهو ما تدعو إليه الحاجة، خاصة عند القيام بترجمة كتاب أو قراءة مادة في مجالات الإعلام مكتوبة باللغة الإنجليزية.. وفيما يتعلق بقائمة المراجع التي أوردتها في آخر القاموس، فكان الغرض منها –كما هو متعارف عليه في المؤلفات العلمية- ذكر المراجع التي تم الرجوع إليها لاستقاء المصطلحات والحقائق والمعلومات، لإعداد هذا القاموس، ولتكون أيضاً بمثابة قائمة تعرف دارسي الإعلام، والعاملين في حقله وغيرهم من المعنيين، بالمراجع المختلفة في فروع الإعلام، حتى يمكن الرجوع إليها عند الحاجة، والاستعانة بها في الدراسة، وإعداد الأبحاث والدراسات... الخ في مختلف المجالات الإعلامية...
