يتناول بالدراسة زراعة القطن فى مصر من وجهة النظر الجغرافية لعلها تسهم فى إلقاء الضوء على النواحي المختلفة لزراعة هذا المحصول فيقيد منها المهتمون به فى مواقعهم المختلفة . ويبين الكتاب تطور زراعة القطن فى مصر فيعرض الانطلاق الأولى لزراعة القطن فائق الجودة وما ارتبط بها من مشروعات الري الدائم وأثر الحرب الأهلية الأمريكية على هذه الزراعة ودور الاحتلال البريطاني فى تحويل مصر إلى مزرعة قطنية لخدم الصناعة البريطانية ،وتأثير زراعة القطن بظروف الحرب العالمية الأولى والكساد العالمي سنة 1929 والحرب العالمية الثانية وثورة يوليو سنة 1952 ومرحلة التحول الاشتراكي والانفتاح الاقتصادي . ويعرض الكتاب للعوامل الطبيعية والبشرية التى أثرت فى زراعة القطن فى مصر متضمنة تربة وادي النيل ودلتاه ومدى صلاحيتها لزراعة القطن والمناخ وملاء مته لزراعته وموارد المياه وأحوال الري والصرف والعمالة الزراعية بوصفها أهم العوامل البشرية المؤثرة فى إنتاج القطن والملكية الزراعية والإشراف والخدمات الحكومية. كما تتضمن دراسة أحوال مكانة القطن فى المركب الزراعي واختلافها من منطقة لأخرى وأساليب وخطوات زراعته وتطور أصنافه وتعددها والمساحة القطنية وتوزيعها الجغرافي وغلة الفدان من القطن وإنتاجه.
