بمناسبة الاحتفاء، سنة 2009 ، بالقيروان عاصمة للثقافة الإسلاميّة ، يصدر هذا الكتاب في طبعته الثالثة بعد أن استفاد المحقِّق من مخطوط المكتبة الملكية بالرباط، بالإضافة إلى النّسخة الإيطالية التي اعتمدها في الطبعة الأولى. ولقد سبق للمجمع التونسي «بيت الحكمة » أن أصدر سنة 1985 ، ثم سنة 1999 ، معلمة ابن الجزّار الطبيّة الشهيرة «زاد المسافر »، محقّقة تحقيقا علميّا شاملا، كما أصدر كتابه «في فنون الطيب والعطر » سنة 2007 ، وذلك في إطار نشر أعماله الكاملة تدريجيّا. ويحتوي كتاب «سياسة الصّبيان وتدبيرهم » على 22 بابا. نجد تركيزا في الأبواب الستة الأولى على حفظ صحّتهم من بداية ولادتهم، وفي الأبواب الخمسة عشر الموالية تفصيلا للأمراض التي تصيبهم وطرق مداواتها. ويعرض ابن الجزّار في الباب الأخير مبادئه في تأديب الصبيان وتربيتهم تربية سليمة. من خلال هذا الكتاب، يتبيّن القارئ مدى ما وصلت إليه المدرسة القيروانية من إبداع وسبق في المجالات الطّبية، بفضل أحمد ابن الجزّار أساسا، وبفضل إسحاق بن عمران وإسحاق بن سليمان أيضا. ويتضمّن الكتاب ثبتا بالمراجع العربية والأجنبية ومعجما ثلاثي اللّغة )عربي، فرنسي، لاتيني( لما ورد فيه من مصطلحات طبيّة وصيدلانية، مع تعاريفها وأهمّ مراجعها عند ابن سينا وابن البيطار بالخصوص.
