يمثل علم الأنسجة Histology أحد المساقات الأساسية في كلية العلوم تخصص العلوم الحياتية التطبيقة وكليات الطب والطب البيطري وطب الأسنان والتمريض وكلية العلوم الطبية المساندة في كافة الجامعات والمعاهد العليا في أنحاء العالم. يهتم علم الأنسجة بدراسة بايولوجية الخلية وتركيب ووظيفة الأنسجة في جسم الإنسان، حيث أن ذلك يمثل ركيزة أساسية يستند عليها بناء الدعائم الأولية لعلم الأمراض Pathology وعلم الأمراض الوظيفية Pathophysiology. في هذا الإطار يأتي هذا الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا والذي يمثل الجزء الأول من كتابين معنونين بـ "علم الأنسجة" والذين هما أحد أجزاء سلسلة "علم البيولوجيا" يأتي هذا الكتاب ليقدم للطالب الراغب بدراسة الطب وتحديد علم الأنسجة كافة المعلومات الهامة المتعلقة بهذا العلم، بدءاً بالتركيب التشريحي الدقيق للأنسجة Microscopic Anotony وانتهاءً ببيولوجية النية التركيبية Structural biosciences لأنسجة الجسم المتنوعة. كما ويقدم له عرضاً لكافة التطورات العلمية الحديثة ذات العلاقة بالموضوع وذلك لتمكينه من تعلم حقائق غزيرة في فترة زمنية قياسية. كما ويتضمن الكتاب معلومات مفصلة عن استعمال المجهر الضوئي والإلكتروني ومعلومات جديدة عن التقنيات التي تسمح بتحليل الجزيئات والخلايا والأنسجة المختلفة. وزيادة في الإيضاح تم إضافة صور توضيحية جديدة مأخوذة بالمجهر الإلكتروني وبعض الأشكال العلمية، وذلك من أجل شرح وتلخيص المظاهر الشكلية والوظيفية في الأنسجة كافة. ومما تجدر الإشارة إليه أخيراً هو أن هذا الكتاب العلمي قد أعد بطريقة تلائم استعماله في التدريس الجامعي في مرحلة البكالوريوس وفي مجال الدراسات العليا في مختلف التخصصات في الجامعات العربية، هذا وقد اعتمد في إعداده على أهم المراجع العلمية الجديدة والعالمية العالية الحديثة سواء في شرح مادته العلمية أو توثيق المعطيات بالصور التوضيحية. وبالعودة لمضمون الكتاب نجد أنه قد اهتم بمعالجة المواضيع التالية من علم الأنسجة: طرق الدراسة النسيجية، كيمياء النسيج وكيمياء الخلية، النسيج الطلائي، النسيج الرابط، النسيج الدهني، الغضروف، العظم النسيج العصبي والجهاز العصبي، النسيج العضلي، جهاز الدوران، خلايا الدم.
