في مجموعته الشعرية "أوبرا الوجه" بدا الشاعر باسكال عسَاف ممثلاً للذات الإنسانية في لحظة نقائها، لغة وتصويراً وخيالاً، يبث قصائده بانطلاقه حزن، وأنيق من قلب، ووجع من كلمة. في الكتاب قصائد تنتمي للشعر العربي الحديث طابعها حزين، هي صور شعرية ضاجة بالمعاني والرموز استطاع شاعرنا أن يوظف ألفاظه خلالها توظيفاً دلالياً مميزاً، مطابقاً للمعاني رغم لغة الترميز التي يتبناها بين السطور والمفردات للتعبير عما اراد البوح به شعراً. في قصيدة تحت عنوان [جمجمة فوق جمجمة] نقرأ: "جمجمة فوق جمجمة/ سأبني مقبرة للآخر/ قتلتني حمامة سوداء/ واستعادت أجنحتها/ لا تكرهوا امرأة على حقٍ،/ اسمعت أيها البطريكُ المتذاكي؟/ غمسَ منقارك بالوحل،/ أتحب القلب مشوياً/ أم مغمسَاً بالشعر؟/ قدحي فارغ/ املأه أيها الحزن..." من عناوين القصائد نذكر: مقبرة الرجل السابق، لا تمت البارحة، ليلى والبوم، المخاض، انفصام..
