لا شك في أهمية المعرفة القانونية لكل فرد من أفراد المجتمع، فالقانون أداة هذا الأخير في تحديد النطاق المشروع لتصرفات وعلاقات ومعاملات أفراده. وتظهر هذه الأهمية بصفة خاصة لكل من له دور في المعاملات التجارية والمالية، فهذه لا بد لها -في نهاية الأمر- من قالب القانون بنظمها ويحدد الإطار الذي تتم فيه والآثار التي تترتب عليها. ومن هنا تبدو واضحة أهمية دراسة القانون لطالب كلية التجارة، فهو يحكمك ما يؤهل له صاحب دور أساسي في المعلومات والممارسات المالية والتجارية. وتهدف دراسة القانون لطالب السنة الأولى بكلية التجارة إلى إلمامه بأساسيات المدخل إلى القانون من ناحية -باعتبار ذلك ضرورة لا لازمة للتهيئة الذهنية لكل دارس للقانون- وأساسيات الالتزامات من ناحية أخرى باعتبارها جوهر المعاملات المالية. ولما كانت هذه الدراسة موجهة إلى غير متخصص في الدراسات القانونية فقد التزم المؤلفان فيها الوقوف عند المبادئ الأساسية، دون الدخول في التفصيلات الرعية أو الخلافات الفقهية، كما حرصا في عرض هذه المبادئ على الإيجاز مع الوضوح بما يفي بالغرض من هذه الدراسة. وعلى ضوء ما سبق فإن الدراسة تنقسم إلى جزأين على النحو التالي: الجزء الأول: مدخل إلى القانون، الجزء الثاني: الالتزامات.
