وإنني إذ أتكلم اللهجة الحلبية الآن بعد أن جمعت هذا القاموس واستوعبت جذور كلماته، أستشعر بالفخار عظمة شعوب وأقوام هذه الأرض المعطاء. مهد الحضارة، وأتبين كلمات بقايا هذا التراث. فمع أن اللغة الآرامية كانت اللغة الدارجة لشعوب هذه المنطقة منذ القرن التاسع قبل الميلاد حتى القرن الثالث عشر الميلادي، وحتى بعد الفتح الإسلامي في القرن السابع الميلادي، بقيت اللغة الآرامية هي اللغة المتداولة لستة قرون، وبعدها أصبحت اللغة العربية هي الدارجة على ألسنة الناس. وقد رسخت بقايا اللغة الآرامية في لهجة حلب أكثر من أية مدينة أخرى في المنطقة. إنني عندما أستمع إلى الأغنية الشعبية (عاليادي اليادي) أعلم أنني أستمع إلى أقدم أغنية في التاريخ بقيت حية بلهجتها ومطلعها منذ مملكة يادي الآرامية في وادي العمق. وعندما يهتف أحدهم طرباً (أوف) للاستزادة أنظر بعين التاريخ إلى روعة تدمر وزنوبيا. وفي الأفراح أستمع إلى هنهونة (الله يساور)، وأتخيل كلماتها السريانية تتردد منذ مئات السنين في نفس المناسبات. وحتى عندما يتندر بعضهم على بعض كلمات لهجتنا مثل (لقش) و (قاق) أعلم أن بعض تراثنا الآرامي مازال حياً، أو كلمة (كه) فأسترجع تراث الأكاديين، وصرح أول امبراطورية في العالم أقامها \\\\\\\"صرغون\\\\\\\" الأول. وتذكرني أسماء أشهر السنة بمجد البابليين وقوانين \\\\\\\"حمورابي\\\\\\\"...المؤلف
