الشاعر محمد عبد العزيز العتيق، يمارس لعبة الشعر من حيث رهصة دواخله، فيختار ما تنتجه نبضات نواصيه من فيض إحساسه، في لحظة نقائه، ليأتي الشعر أنين من قلب وعصف من شوق، وشذا من عطر الحبيب، بهذه اللجة العالية يكتب الشاعر العتيق وهو يفتح نافذة تذكره بمن أحب "فتحت باب فؤادي، وانتثرت ندى/ ولمحة ذكرت في باب "يرضيك"/ سامحت بعدك ها صوت الهوان بدا/ في قاع شعري يقضَ اليوم غاليك/ ما كنت أهرف إذ بالحبَ قد صدحت/ أئمة الليل/ في نجوى معاليك(...)". وفي الكتاب يستهل الشاعر مجراه الشعري بقصيدة تتمحور حول عنصر الروح "أنفاس روحي"، وينتهي بقصيدة "وجع الطريق" التي يستقطب فيها كل أشكال التعبير عن التيه ببعد الحبيبة "حثثت خطوي لدار الحب مرتدياً/ ثوب التجلل في أنشودة الطلب!/ الحب مائي برمضاء النوى!/ فمتى تبكي الغيوم/ على ما ذقت من تعب؟". يضم الكتاب (24) قصيدة تتراوح بين الشعر الموزون والمقفى والشعر العربي الحديث وقصيدة النثر نذكر من عناوينها: "أنفاس روحي"، "سامحت بعدك"، "صديقة البوح"، "هو ضائق"، "عيد أبيض"...الخ.
