يحوي هذا الكتاب أشتاتاً أسلوبية طريفة في نهجها وعرضها، فقد احتوى على خمسة فصول أولها الأسلوبية الصوتية، حيث عرض لقضايا الرمزية الصوتية من ناحية، ومن ناحية أخرى التحليل الأسلوبي لأصوات النصوص الشعرية. وتناول الفصل الثاني ترجمة الواو العبرية بين العربية والإنجليزية، وتبين أن للواو سمات نصية وخطابية إضافة إلى العطف والجمع، وبخاصة وظيفة الإحالة.
وعرض الفصل الثالث لوظيفة التقسيم بلاغياً ودلالة مقدار التقسيم بيم الكلمات والجمل في النصوص الشعرية النثرية. وأضاف الفصل الرابع نوعاً بديعياً أو بلاغياً عرفه كل من اليونان والرومان ولم يلتفت إلهي العرب القدماء، وبين كثرته وتنوعه في الأدب الشعبية العربية وبخاصة في مصر وهو "التصاعد القولي". وقام الفصل الخامس والأخير بتجريب صوتي معملي نحو اكتشاف السمات الصوتية للأداء الشعري نطقاً وعروضاً.
