منذ بدء الخليقة وكانت غواية المرأة للرجل موضوعا لاهتمام الأدباء والمفكرين ورجال الدين ، وكذلك الرسالات السماوية وتقريبا كافة الأديان ، ويكمل الكاهن بيل بركينز سلسلة الكتاُب الذين تناولوا تأثير غواية المرأة علي الرجل وإيقاعه في الخطيئة . يبدأ الفصل الأول بتساؤل للمؤلف لماذا يبدو جسد المرأة علي تلك الدرجة من الروعة ؟ ويجيب المؤلف علي هذا السؤال بأن فكرة العري بمجملها هي متعة خاصة مهداة للبشر فقط ، فالحيوانات مثلا لا يمكنها أن تتعري ، كما أن عريها لا يثير الإحساس بالجمال والروعة اللذين يثيرهما جسد المرأة العاري ، ويدلل المؤلف علي ذلك بقصة خلق أبو البشر آدم ، ويقول أن الله خلق له حواء لكي يشعر آدم بالاكتمال ، وأن الله صمم حواء وشكَل كل شيء بها بحيث تُصبح هي وآدم مكملين لبعضهما البعض ، الخالق المصور الذي أبدع هذا الكون ولم يبخل بأي جهد في صناعة هذه التحفة الفنية الرائعة والمقصود هنا حواء . ويري المؤلف أنه بخلق حواء فقد آدم ضلعا ، وبظهورها استعاد آدم كماله الإنساني ، فقد كان منقوصا ، ويطرح المؤلف فكرة جديدة في العلاقة بين الرجل وجسد المرأة وهي إذا كان جمال جسد المرأة مرتبطا ببحث الرجل عن الكمال ، فهل يوجد في أعماقه بحث دائم عن الجزء المنقوص منه والذي بدونه سوف يعيش منقوصا للأبد .
