في مجموعته الشعرية "غزل الحب والموت" يكشف الشاعر العراقي "نجمان ياسين" عن ألم مضاعف، جرح في الحياة، وجرح في الموت، لكنه جرح يتشكل سلساً، بلغة لا تتكلف وبنفس يمتح بوحاً، هو أكثر تعبيراً عن هذه الذات "المثخنة" بجراحها و"الثملة" باليأس، ولكن هذا اليأس لم يمنع الشاعر أن تكون لديه رسالة في الحياة وهذا ما عبَر عنه في مقدمة الكتاب بقوله "... بعد رحيلي المهم بالنسبة لرجل مثلي يحس بأن لديه رسالة في الحياة، ألا يقع في خطيئة اليأس، ليس لرجل مكتظ بالرؤى والأفكار، وحب المعرفة إلا أن يفجر باستمرار ذلك الفيض الغامر في قلبه وذاكرته ليصير علامة على قهر الإبداع للموت". في قصيدة يصف من خلالها الشاعر حاله عندما كان رهينة المرض والموت نقرأ: "قلب الرجل، عين المرأة/ في غرفة العمليات/ هجم المخدر على الدم/ اجتلت الكآبة قلب الرجل/ أودعته الرائحة في قبضة مدى/ فسيح من الضباب الثقيل/ غابات أشجارها فحم محترق/ وثمرها دم،/(...) كان الثعلب العجوز،/ تقترب في هيئة طاووس/ مرة يتربص في الظلام/ ومرة يخاتل للإمساك بقلب الرجل/ كان القلب مسكوناً/ بوجه أنهكه الحزن". يضم الكتاب أكثر من تسعون قصيدة في الشعر العربي الحديث كتب نصوصها الشاعر بين (1987-2003) نذكر من عناوينها: "صبي"، "الشجرة"، "غراب وفاختة"، "النهر"، "وثناثية"، "آخر الجرعات"، "ينبغي لي"...إلخ.
