حسن اسماعيل، مواليد 1952، ميس الجبل ـ قضاء مرجعيون تلقى دروسه الأولى في مدرسة البلدة، وفي مدرسة بنت جبيل العالية.
تخرج من دار المعلمين والمعلمات في بيروت عام 1972.
نال إجازة في اللغة العربية وآدابها عام 1980.
نال دبلوم الدراسات العليا عام 1988.
حاز على الدكتوراه اللبنانية في اللغة العربية وآدابها عام 2006، من كلية الآداب والعلوم الإنسانية في الجامعة اللبنانية.
اشترك في عدة دورات تربوية، منها دورة في كلية التربية في الجامعة اللبنانية لإعداد أساتذة التعليم الثانوي الرسمي، عام 1995.
يمارس التدريس بالمرحلتين الثانوية والجامعية.

علم الأراضى يعتبر من العلوم التطبيقية الزراعية الحديثة نسبيا، والذى أولى اهتماما كبيرا نظرا لأهميته، وخاصة مع الزيادة السكانية المطردة فى العالم. وهذه هى الطبعة الثانية، ومن خلالها تم تعديل محتويات الطبعة الأولى المخرجة عام 989 ا بواسطة ستة من المؤلفين المتخصصين فى أفرع علم الأراضى المختلفة، وهى بيدولوجيا الأراضي - كيمياء ومعادن الأراضى - فيزياء الأراضى وعلاقتها بالمياه. وقد تم هذا التعديل والتجويد بما يتوافق مع تطور هذا العلم ومواءمته فى تقنيات العصر.. وأهم هذه التعديلات: استخدام نظم المعلومات الجغرافية في استخراج عدد من الخرائط الملونة لخصائص الأراضى المصرية التى وضعت كأمثلة فى الأبواب المختلفة لقسم البيدولوجى. كما تم تعديل نظم تقسيم وتقويم الأراضى اعتمادا على أحدث ما نشر فى هذا المجال عامي 1994، 1995. وهذا الكتاب يعتبر مرجعا مفيدا للمبتدئين والمتخصصين فى مجال علم الأراضى، وقد روعى فيه الدقة وحسن الإخراج.
