قبل أن يباشر الكاتب حديثه عن اسس الجيوبولتيكا، يقدم مدخلاً للتعريف بالمصطلح الذي شاع استخدامه وهو يعمد إلى إيراد آراء المؤلفين وما تحويه المعاجم ليحدد المادة الأساسية التي يدرسها هذا العلم، ويبين مبادئه ومناهجه الأساسية، وهي تعريفات تنطلق في مجملها من الظروف التاريخية.
فالجيوبولتيكا رؤية العالم تنبغي مقاربتها مع منظومات العلوم. فهي تقع على مستوى واحد مع كل من الماركسية والليبرالية. وهي وجهة نظر السلطة هي علم السلطة ومن أجل السلطة وهي تحدد بنفسها ما الذي يكتسب قيمة بالنسبة لها وما لا يكتسب، كما أنها في العالم المعاصر تمثل الدليل الملخص لرجل السلطة. إنها كتاب السلطة الذي يقدم فيه ملخص لما يجب وضعه في الاعتبار عند اتخاذ القرارات الكبرى. كعقد التحالفات، شن الحرب، القيام بالإصلاحات، تطبيق الإجراءات الاقتصادية والسياسية على مستوى واسع وغير ذلك.
يكرس المؤلف البابين (الأول والثاني) للحديث عن جهود الآباء المؤسسين الذين مهدوا لقيام هذا العالم، حيث يتحدث عن المدرسة العضوية الألمانية التي كان ف. راتسيل أكبر روادها، ليتحدث فيما بعد عن ر.تشيلين وف.ناومن، وهـ.ماكيندر الذي تحدث عن المحور الجغرافي للتاريخ الكوني.
أما في البابين الثالث والرابع، فقد بحث المؤلف الـ Hear Hand الذي جعل موقع روسيا موقعاً فريداً وبشر فيه (بتجميع الإمبراطورية) الروسية السابقة واستباق ما يخش حدوثه في المستقبل. وهو ينادي بضرورة قيام الإمبراطورية الأوراسية التي ستخوض الصراع مع الأطلسية بنجاح. أما في الباب السادس فإن المؤلف يواصل ما بدأه في البابين الأول والثاني فيخلص إلى أن الجيوبولتيكا، علم علماني.. دنس، دنيوي.
