في النصف الأول من القرن العشرين نظّم عمالقة صناعة المواد الكيميائية إنقلاباً على مجال البحث الطبي المتمثل بمؤسسات الصحة والمستشفيات والجامعات الطبيّة.
ولقد تحقق هذا الإنجاز الشيطاني الكبير بواسطة تمويل ورعاية البحوث والدراسات ومنح هدايا مالية للجامعات والكليّات الطبيّة في الدول الغربية، حيث كان البحث مبنياً على أساس الدواء الكيماوي المدّر، ثم وُسِّعت هذه السياسة لتشمل المؤسسات الطبيّة العالمية عن طريق مجلس التعليم الدولي.
أمّا تلك البحوث غير المبنيّة على أساس العقار المخدّر فكان تمويلها مرفوض، فتلاشت مع مرور الزمن حيث توجهت الجهود نحو المشاريع الدوائية الأكثر ربحاً ذات الأساس الكيماوي.
هل نحن بحاجة فعلاً إلى هذا الكم الهائل من الأدوية الكيماوية التي تسربت إلى أدق تفاصيل حياتنا اليومية؟ هل صحيح أن الطبيعة الأم لم تكن تعلم ماذا تفعل عندما صنعت الجسم البشري كما تدعي مؤسسات صناعة الأدوية، مما يتطلب تدخلاً مستمراً من قبل النظام الطبي الذي أنشأته لرعايتنا صحياً؟ أم أن هناك حقيقة أخرى لا زلنا نجهلها؟.
