ولد القاص والروائي والمترجم عبد عون الروضان في مدينة العمارة عام 1939 في الصف الخامس الاعدادي حصل على جائزته الأولى في مسابقة للقصة القصيرة عام 1973 فنشر اول قصة له في مجلة ألف باء ومن إصداراته (بيت في مواجهة الشمس،قصص 1976، ربيع في صيف ساخن، رواية 1981، رجل في ذاكرة الرجال، رواية 1984، والشعراء العرب في القرن العشرين (2005). وحاز على جائزة الإبداع في القصة القصيرة عام 1997 وهو يترجم عن اللغتين ال ولد القاص والروائي والمترجم عبد عون الروضان في مدينة العمارة عام 1939 في الصف الخامس الاعدادي حصل على جائزته الأولى في مسابقة للقصة القصيرة عام 1973 فنشر اول قصة له في مجلة ألف باء ومن إصداراته (بيت في مواجهة الشمس،قصص 1976، ربيع في صيف ساخن، رواية 1981، رجل في ذاكرة الرجال، رواية 1984، والشعراء العرب في القرن العشرين (2005). وحاز على جائزة الإبداع في القصة القصيرة عام 1997 وهو يترجم عن اللغتين الإنجليزية والفرنسية، كما سبق أن عمل في الصحافة وفي الإذاعة والتلفزيون، كما عمل خبيراً لغوياً لكثير من دور النشر في الأردن.

موسوعتنا هذه "موسوعةعشائر العراق" والتي جاءت بعد موسوعة "القبائل العربية: أنسابها وقائعها حروبها، شعراؤها" هي خطوة أخرى في مضمار الكتابة عن العشائر العراقية نرجو أن تتبعها خطوات، فالطريق لم ينته، والناس بحاجة دائماً لمن يرفدهم بالمعلومة الجديدة والمفيدة عن واقعهم المعيش، وعن خلفياتهم التاريخية، فالعشائرية لا تقترن أبداً بالعصبية القبلية، وهي بعيدة عن التفاخر والتنابز التي نهى عنها ديننا الحنيف. لقد إهتمت العرب منذ القدم بالنسب، الذي صار علماً له علماؤه المتخصصون وظهر علم القيافة الذي هو من فروع علم النسب، فهناك العديد من الرجال الذين لهم القدرة على معرفة الشخص ورده إلى نسبه من خلال المعاينة الدقيقة، بل إن بعضهم كان يعرف صلة القربى بين شخص وآخر من خلال معاينة القدمين فحسب. وسط هذا البحر البشري المتلاطم، شعوب وقبائل وبطون وعشائر.. ملايين وملايين.. عصور وعصور، كان لا بد من حفظ الأنساب، وكان لا بد من أن يعرف المرء سلالته، أو شجرته التي هو ورقة معلقة فيها.. والله سبحانه وتعالى إذ جعلنا شعوباً وقبائل، فإنما من أجل أن نتعارف لا من أجل أن يفخر بعضنا على بعض بنسبه أو حسبه وجعل المعيار الأساس هو التقوى بمعناها الواسع.
