"فإذا صح أن الإنسان لا ينجو من التحيز حين يصف العالم، فما نجوت من افتناني بوطني وبعروبتي وبتاريخي، فمما أحمله في نفسي أنطلق في نظرتي إلى الآخر المغاير، كثقافة الأماركة وتاريخهم وسلوكهم، لأن إلى هذه النفس مرد مقارناتي وقياسي." كتاب جميل في سرده الساخر، ولغته الخاصة التي تعسف البلاغة لصالح الرحلة والمشهد والحدث والحكاية والصورة.. وأخيرًا النظرة الشخصية كما عاشها.
