ضمن جهود التعريب في ميدان العلوم الحديثة ظهرت والحمدلله في السنوات الأخيرة بعض الكتب باللغة العربية (مؤلفة أو مترجمة) في مجال علوم الحاسوب، وهذه الكتب وإن كانت قليلة جدًا بالنسبة لما هو مطلوب في عملية تعريب العلوم للنهوض بأمتنا، إلا أنها جهد مشكور ونواة طيبة لمكتبة علمية عربية ندعو الله عز وجل أن يبارك فيها لتثري وتروي ظمأ الطلاب والدارسين والباحثين. وهذا الكتاب خطوة متواضعة على الطريق الطويل لنقل العلوم الحديثة إلى لغتنا العربية، وذلك في مجال الرياضيات وعلم الحاسوب، حيث يتناول هذا الكتاب موضوع الطرق العددية والتحليل العددي من الناحيتين النظرية والتطبيقية. والتحليل العددي علم يتعلق باشتقاق ووصف وتحليل طرق الحصول على حلول عددية لمسائل رياضية يصعب عادة حلها بالطرق التحليلية الجبرية المعتادة. وكانت فصول الكتاب كالتالي: (الفصل الأول: الحسابات العددية، الفصل الثاني: حل المعادلات، الفصل الثالث: نظم المعادلات الخطية، الفصل الرابع: حساب الاستكمال، الفصل الخامس: التفاضل العددي، الفصل السادس: التكامل العددي). وفي نهاية كل فصل يوجد عدد كبير من التمرينات والمسائل التي تعين الطالب بإذن الله على فهم واستيعاب المفاهيم والطرق العددية التي وردت في ذلك الفصل. ويمكن للطالب التأكد من صحة هذا الفهم بالرجوع إلى أجوبة التمرينات في نهاية الكتاب.
