في هذا الكتاب يتابع الدكتور "حسن كيره" من مصر المُستحدث من نصوص التشريع والمستجد من إتجاهات القضاء وآراء الفقهاء بخصوص قانون العمل في مصر؛ تأتي الحاجة إلى البحث في هذا الموضوع برأي الدكتور "كيره": "بعد أن أقدم المشرع على إخراج بعض مسائل العمل من صلب تقنين العمل وأعاد تنظيمها بقوانين مستقلة خارج هذا التقنين، وهي: مسائل التأهيل المهني للعاجزين التي بات ينظمها القانون رقم 39 لسنة 1975 بشأن تأهيل المعوقين، والمسائل النقابية التي بات ينظمها القانون رقم 35 لسنة 1976 بشأن النقابات العمالية...". يبدأ الكتاب بمقدمة عامة تحيط بتعريف قانون العمل وتسميته وأهميته البالغة في كل عصر، ثم يتتبع مصادر نشوءه وتطوره بوجه عام وفي مصر بوجه خاص، ثم يقف على مختلف مصادره ومكانه بين مختلف فروع القانون ومظاهر إستقلاله وذاتيته. يقسم هذا الكتاب إلى أبواب وفصول ومباحث عديدة نذكر أهمها: النظم القانونية التي تحكم عقد العمل وتوزيع الولاية بينها، الطوائف المستبعدة الخاضعة لتشريعات خاصة، الطوائف المستبعدة الخاضعة للتقنين المدني، تحديد عقد العمل وتمييزه، تمييز عقد العمل من غيره من العقود، إنعقاد عقد العمل، حرية التعاقد على العمل وقيودها، قيود تشغيل الأجانب، قيود تشغيل النساء، قيود تشغيل المعقوين... إلى آخر ذلك من قوانين تحكم عقد العمل سواء في القطاع العام أو الخاص في مصر.
