في التاسعة والربع صباحاً، طلب المذيع من المستمعين الاتصال به، وإخبارهم عن حقيقة مخاوفهم، اتصلت به وكنت أرتجف من البرد والخوف والجوع، كنت شريدة، تائهة، أبحث عن وطن صغير يحوي كل مشاعري المتراكمة. لم تكن الأيام التي مضت طيبة وهانئة، كنت أشعر بالوجع وكثير من البغض لأي شيء جديد لهذا الكون، كنت مصابة بالرشح والزكام وكثير من الشجن الذي لا أعرف ما هيته، وتصورت بأن مجرد اتصالي بالإذاعة سينهي كل هذا الجوع الذي يملأ العالم، كانت قهوتي التي لا أشربها إلا بالحليب قد بردت، لكن قلبي لا يزال مع حياتي التي أحاول تدويرها بالطريقة التي تليق بظهوري الجديد، خرج صوتي على الهواء مع المذيع، وشعرت لأول مرة بأني لستُ أنا، أنني أقرب لأن أكون كائناً لا يشبه أحد، وكان يمكنني أن أكذب بشأن اسمي ووطني وحتى بموقع مدينتي. لكن المذيع الذي يبدو أنه قد امتلك مهارة كبيرة في التعرف على الأصوات، سألني سريعاً حينما شعر بأن قلبي يمكنه أن يتوقف في لحظة عن الحياة، عن ما يدور في رأسي، قلت له كلاماً لا أعرف إذا ما كنت أود للجميع أن يسمعوه أو كنت غارقة في تلك اللحظة بشتات مشاعري.. قلت له إنني لا أخشى الحبّ، وإنما أخشى الرجال.
