في "كونار" تروي هند سيف البار حكاية جني مُشاغب، يحبسه ملك الجنّ في فانوس، ثم ينفيه إلى عالم البشر. تمسح (رقية) الشابة الفانوس؛ لكن بدلاً من ظهور المارد مُحقق الأمنيات يظهر الجني كونار، ويُجبرها على توقيع عَقد ينصّ على عملها كخادمة في قصره لسنة كاملة، توقع (رقية) العقد وفي تلك اللحظة تتغير حياتها تماماً، لأن الجني اصطحبها معه ليعبرا الحاجز الذي يفصل بين عالميهما - عالم البشر وعالم الجن - وهناك تتعرض (رقية) للكثير من المتاعب وتقع في الحب وتعيش لحظات سعيدة وأخرى حزينة.
هذه الأحداث تُدخلها الكاتبة في نسيج روائي تشكل الغرابة والأساطير بعض مكوناته، وهو واقع غارق في الشعبية والغرائبية، يحيل إلى عالم مرجعي ما قبل حداثي، يفيد من التراث السردي العربي في قصصه الشعبي حين يطغى التخييل الغرائبي وتتناسل الأحداث بعضها من بعض، وإذ نحن إزاء رواية عربية واقعية سحرية، مشغولة بلغة سردية تتدفق على رسلها، أما الحوار فيها فهو متنوع الأحجام، يتراوح بين الجملة الواحدة للشخصية الواحدة وقرابة الصفحة أحياناً، وقد تؤنسن المكان وتجعله ملائماً للحكاية، هذه الخلطة الغريبة العجيبة هي ما يمنح الرواية اختلافها عن السائد الروائي، ولعل الأهم في كل عمل فني هو كيف نقول الحكاية لا ما هو واقع فعلاً وهو ما نجحت هند سيف البار في إيصاله إلى القارئ على صعوبة هذه المهمة.
