يقوم هذا الكتاب بكشف النقاب عن الأحداث التي كانت تدور خلف الكواليس، ولم يتمّ الإفصاح عنها من قبل، ويتمّ ذلك بالتعاون مع طاقم العمل والممثلين الذين شاركوا في صناعة سلسلة الأفلام التي لاقت رواجاً ونسبة مشاهدة كبيرة، وعلى رأسهم الممثل الأمريكي دانيال رادكليف، الذي قام بدور هاري بوتر، ويُصدّر الكتاب قائلاً: “غالباً ما كنت أسأل عن التأثير الذي تركته أفلام هاري بوتر على حياتي، كيف هي النشأة في موقع تصوير فيلم؟ كيف غيّرت الأفلام حياتي أو شكّلتها؟ كيف هي حياتك وأنت شخص مشهور؟ هل فاتتك فرصة أن تعيش فترة طفولة طبيعية؟”. وتتحدث “إيما واطسون” -التي تقمصت شخصية “هيرميون” في العمل- أنها تأمل أن يستمرّ العمل في أفلام هاري بوتر لفترة طويلة؛ لتصبح من الآثار الفنية الخالدة مثل فيلم “أطفال السكة الحديد”. كما يحاول الكتاب نقل القراء إلى العالم السحري الذي ناقشته السلسلة على مدار أجزائها؛ وذلك بالغوص في التفاصيل المتعلقة بالعمل من أماكن ومواقع التصوير، ونسخ الاكسسوار، وصور فنية خاصة لم تُعرض من قبل. ويتناول أيضاً اليوميات، وبعض المواقف التي كانت تحدث أثناء العمل، والنقلة التي حدثت لأبطاله وتغيير مسار حياتهم؛ ليكون الكتاب بمثابة تحليل أو دراسة لعمل كبير قرأه الملايين عبر العالم بمختلف اللغات.
