تختلف نظرة الطبيب منير شماعة إلى الحياة من حيث التقدم في العمر والتقاعد. .وفقا لصحيفة "المستقبل" اللبنانية يشرح الكتاب نظرة الطبيب منير شماعة إلى الحياة من حيث التقدم في العمر والتقاعد. فنجد الطبيب المتقاعد قد استعد لمواجهة الامر وأعد العدة، رفض فكرة اليأس وان التقاعد يعني "مت وأنت قاعد"، وتعبئة الفراغ بالكمبيوتر وممارسة الرياضة وهواية القراءة وصولاً إلى التأليف. ينقسم الكتاب إلى قسمين: "أيام زمان" حيث الطفولة والدراسة، ومسرحه منطقة رأس بيروت وأبطاله الراوي وزملاؤه ومرضاه ورواد المطاعم والغارسونية والحلاقون والمعارف، كل ذلك على مدى اكثر من خمسين عاماً. في القسم الثاني "تيتي تيتي" وضع المؤلف آراءه في الفكر والسياسة وتجربته خلال الحروب اللبنانية تحت موضوعات منها: المواطنة والعروبة والطائفية والمقاومة، مشيراً الى ان الشعب اللبناني ما زال يعاني المشاكل نفسها.
