لأن ما يمضي لا يعود أبداً .. وما يعود لا يحمل معه نكهة ما مضى، يروي لنا معجب الشمري في "تاوتاروس" قصة حب لم تكتمل بين "سمو" و "شامخ" اللذان جمعهما الحب وفرقهما المال، و "سمو" إبنة رجل جمع من المال ما يكفي لأن تصنع منه دولة أخرى غير تلك التي صنعها في الخفاء". أما "شامخ" إبن الجيران فهو شاب بسيط لا يملك سوى قلبه. ولعل انتهاء الرواية في حافة مفترق الطرق هو ما جعل منها نصاً روائياً جميلاً، أشبه بالملحمة، وقد صاغه الروائي بلغة جذابة، شاعرية، رقيقة، تكشف عن حالات الضعف البشري عند الحب بما فيها من رومانسية وعذاب وتحولات درامية في الشخصية وهو ما وفر للنص السلاسة والانسياب وما جعله قريباً ومباشراً، ومن زوايا "تارتاروس" نقرأ:
"الرجل في الحب يبحث عن كل جهات الضعف في أنثاه ليكسوها بالخذلان.
والأنثى في الحب تستوطن كل جهات الرجل لتكسوه بالأمان؟
الرجل يملك قلبه يهبه لألف صديقة؛ والأنثى تملك وطناً لا تمنحه الا لرجل واحد.
الرجل لا يبكي من أجل أنثى، والأنثى لا يوقف دمعها سوى رجل أحبته ...".
