كانت المرّة الثالثة التي لمحتُهُ فيها خلال إقامتي في ذلك الفندق الساحليّ، يجوبُ قاعة الفندق مثل مُحارب لاتينيّ ساحر، خرجَ لتوّه من فيلم The Liberator، بفارق السّلاح والزّيّ. همستُ لنفسي: لكلّ عصرٍ زيّهُ وسلاحُهُ، أمّا الحُرّيّة، فهي واحدة في العصور والحروب كلّها أيضًا. كان يضحكُ، ويغمزُ بعينه، ويلمس الأكتاف المكشوفة برقّة، ثمّ يميلُ على إحدى المُسنّات الشقراوات، ويهمسُ لها شيئًا، تضحكُ بدلالٍ، وتعطيه يدها، ليسحبها نحو حلبة الرقص الّتي تتوسّط القاعة. يُراقصها بمهارة مدرّب رقص محترف، يتحرَّكُ بخفة وأناقة، وما إنْ تنتهي الموسيقا لا ينسى أنْ يُقبِّل ظاهر يدها، وينحني أمامها مصفّقاً، يعودُ بعدها لدورةٍ أخرى من الغزل والرّقص. سأكتبُ قصّتَكَ. قلتُها أردُّ على تحيّة منه، تتلخّص في إمالة رأس رقيقة نحوي. ابتسم كَمَنْ لم يعد يفاجئهُ شيءٌ في هذا العالم. هذا الكتاب فاز بجائزة الملتقى للقصة القصيرة.
