هل يبدو غريباً أن يعيش المرء في مكان يشبه الكتاب؟ لن يبدو الأمر كذلك حينما يخُصّ كاتبة موهوبة مثل أسماء محمد الراجح, تبدو الكتابة بالنسبة لها فعلاً مركباً, فعل حياة,وفعل إنصات عميق لها وهي تعيد إنتاج وقائعها بروحٍ لا تأبه الالم, ولا تنقصُها الجرأة في المواجهة والإكتشاف, مواجهة الحياة لإعادة اكتشافها من جديد. ولكن هذه المرة بعيون من خذلتهم الحياة ولم يأخذوا حقهم فيها, تلك هي حكاية "إيف" أو "الحياة". البطلة التي اختارتها الكاتبة لنتمكن خلالها من الإنصات للآخرين ومعاينتهم والنظر في خفيّ حيواتهم وكأنها تقول لنا أنه لن يكتمل وجه المرء بما يقوله عن نفسه وما يعمل على رسمه مهما كانت براعته, ثمّة تفصيل بحاجة إلى من يضيئُه من الخارج لتكتمل الصورة, إنه فعل الكتابة الذي يجعل من "جديس" رواية تجعل من قراءتها لحظة إنسانية نادرة للحوار مع الذات, للإنصات إلى الجوهر, وللإتصال الحميم بالأشياء, لتبدو الذات جزءاً حياً, يانعاً, ومكتملاً من العالم, وهو الجزء الذي أرادت الكاتبة التعبير عنه من خلال الناس البُسطاء الذين لايعرفون شيئاً عن الحياة خارج أرضهم, ومع علمهم أنّها ليست الأفضل, يدركون تماماً أن أي أرضٍ أخرى ستقبلهم غرباء! تقول الكاتبة في مفتتح الرواية: هل تملك سبباً جلياً لكونك تقرأ؟ أنا لا أشعر انني أكتب كل مااستشعرُه أن هذا الكتاب حقيبة -حقيبة فارغة- وأن عليّ أن أُفرغ مافي داخلي لأحشوها بِه أنت الآن لاتُمسك كتاباً إذن! بل تتحسس أشيائي.
