ويتضمن الكتاب فصولًا من حياة الشاعر الكبير "عبد الرحمن الأبنودي" التي وافق على كتابتها بناءً على اقتراح "إبراهيم عبد العزيز"، فصار يملي مذكراته على الأخير، ولكن فجأة طلب الأبنودي التوقف عن استكمال كتابة المذكرات.
وتَعَجَّب "إبراهيم عبد العزيز" لهذا الأمر، فأوضح له الأبنودي السبب وهو أنه حكى لصديقه "جمال الغيطاني" عن مسألة كتابة سيرته الذاتية، فقال الغيطاني: "هذا نذير بنهاية العمر"، مما أدى لتشاؤم الأبنودي وعدم استكمال رواية مذكراته.
