تَأْخُذُنا رُوايَةُ "التُّرْجُمَان" إلى عَالَمِ الأَدِيبَةِ "فَوْز"، الَّتِي فَقَدَتْ زَوْجَها خِلالَ الغَزْوِ العِرَاقِيِّ للكُوَيْت.
تَبْدَأُ الأَحْدَاثُ بَعْدَ مُرورِ عِشْرين عامًا عَلَى غِيابِ الزَّوْجِ، حينَ يَسْقُطُ التُّرْجُمانُ - الَّذِي أَحَبَّتْهُ مُنْذُ بِضْعِ سَنَواتٍ- ضَحِيَّةً لِجَلْطَةٍ دِماغِيَّةٍ تُفْقِدُهُ الوَعْيَ، لِتُتَابِعَ الشَّخْصِيَّاتُ حَوْلَهُ الحَديثَ المُوازِيَ لِتَطَوُّرِ الأَحْداثِ، عَلَى مَدَارِ 28 فَصْلًا يَسْرِدُها 28 رَاوِيَةً، مِنْ مِصْرِيِّينَ وكُوَيْتِيِّينَ، وجِنْسِيَّاتٍ أُخْرَى، يَجْمَعُ بَيْنَ بَعْضِهِم العَمَلُ فِي مُؤَسَّسَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ، بَيْنَما تُظَلِّلُ الآخَرِينَ عَلَاقَاتُ القَرَابَةِ أَوْ الصَّدَاقَةِ.
حَياةُ المُغْتَرِبينَ فِي بَلَدٍ خَلِيجِيٍّ، سَوَاءً كَانُوا مِصْرِيِّينَ أَوْ هُنُودًا أَوْ فِلِبِّينِيِّينَ، وَسِوَاهُمْ، وانْهِيارُ أَفْكَارٍ كُبْرَى، وَصُعُودُ أُخْرَى، وَجَدَتْ لَهَا مَسْرَحًا عَلَى أَرْضِ تِلْكَ الرُّوَايَةِ الجَرِيئَةِ، المُشْبَعَةِ بِالْجَوِّ الكُوزْمُوبُولِيتَانِيِّ، والمِرْآةِ لِتَرْحَالِ مُؤَلِّفِها أَشْرَف أَبُو اليَزِيد.
