يوم آخر سيبقى حياً ، يوم واحد فقط .. حفر قبراً لنفسه أشعل الشموع ، أستلقى الرجل ينظر في الفراغ ، ليوم آخر سيرى طيف القرية البعيد يتهادى أمام عينيه الذابلتين ، القرية المهجورة ، الصامتة ، الوحيدة جداً، القابعة في النسيان .. كذلك كان الرجل، هكذا فكر في نفسه .. سيموت هو وتموت معه القرية بكاملها، بمنازلها، بكنيستها، بطواحينها القديمة، تبقى أرواح الموتى هناك تجلس أمام المدفأة تجرد نفسها من قسوة الشتاء ، سينضم الرجل العجوز إليهم، سيحكي لهم حكايات الوحدة والصمت، سيروي لهم عن السنوات البطيئة التي قضاها في القرية بصحبة اللاشيء ، حتى الفراغ يتحول الى صمت في معظم الأحيان ، سيرتعش أمام الضوء واللهب والفناء وأشباح العائلة القديمة ، سيحكي لهم ولنا عن مشاعر وأطياف مابعد العزلة، عن الجنون أيضاً ، عن " سابينا " التي تركته بشنق نفسها في الطاحونة في تلك الليلة الباردة
