لقد مضى على الأمة وقت طويل تتلاطمها المناهج والاتجاهات ، وكل منها يدعي أنه وحده الذي يحمل الخير لهذه الأمة ، ولم يثبت الواقع إلا عكس ذلك وخلافه؛ فلقد جرب كثيرون مناهجهم في السياسة والحكم ، إلا أن كل ما أسفر عنه الواقع هو الانحدار بحال الأمة وواقعها نحو مطبات أكثر خطورة . وليس من دليل أفصح من ذلك على تخبط هذه المناهج وعدم فلاحها في معالجة مأزق الأمة ، الذي يمكن إجماله في أنه مأزق حضاري لشموله أوجه الحياة كافة . فليس في واقع الأمة ثمة متنفس يعكس إمكانية انفراج هذا المأزق ، ولا يمكن أن يتحقق ذلك إلا من خلال الأخذ الجاد والحقيقي بمنهج الصحابة في إدارة شؤون الأمة .
