وقد كُتب بأسلوب يجمع بين الرصانة الأكاديمية والدقة العلمية من ناحية، وسهولة العرض والأسلوب من ناحية أخرى. ومؤلفتا الكتاب باحثتان وخبيرتان متمكّنتان أمضتا سنين طويلة في تدريس مقررات تعليمية في اللسانيات النفسية لطلاب المراحل الجامعية. فكان لذلك أثر بالغ في مضمون الكتاب وأسلوبه. فقد مزجت المؤلفتان بين توضيح المفاهيم الرئيسية وشرحها، واستعراض آخر ما توصل إليه البحث العلمي من نتائج معرفية متصلة بهذا الموضوع. فجمعتا بذلك بين الإحاطة والشمول من ناحية، والمتابعة الدقيقة لمستجدات هذا الميدان من ناحية أخرى.
