قدّم لهذا الكتاب بسيرة قصيرة عن حياة رضا لاري يرحمه الله، وذلك لأن المؤلف رأى أن قراءة الناس لمقالات لاري المكتوبة بقلمه أولى من قراءتهم تفاصيل حياته.
أما مقالاته فقد أدرج المؤلف كل ما وجده عن الشخصيات، بإستثناءات يسيرة جدّاً، ثم ألحق ذلك بكتاباته التي رأى المؤلف في نشرها، هنا، فائدة، إمّا لأهمية موضوعها، أو لِمَا فيها من مَنحى ثقافي تاريخ أو إجتماعي.
بينما مقالاته السياسية التي دَوَّن فيها تحليلاته للمواقف الدولية، وهي كثيرة جدّاً، فرأى المؤلف أنها باتت جزءاً من تاريخه وحسب، أو طرفاً من تأريخ لمرحلة معينة.
لم تكن الشخصية القيادية هي السمة المميزة لرضا لاري وحسب، فقد وجد فيه رفاقُه كثيرًا من الصفات العديدة، بما فيها تَسَلُّمُهُ لِزِمام الحديث في أي مجلس يجلسه، أو أي رحلة يمضي فيها معهم. كانت شخصيته بكلِّ جوانبها العديدة تنعكس دومًا على أجواء المكان الذي يحلُّ عليه، بما تكتنزه من بديهة حاضرة سريعة، وظَرْفٍ في كلامه وسلوكه، مع سعة اطِّلاعه وتعدد قراءاته وتثقفه، فكانت جلساته ممتعة، لا تخلو من الضحك والبهجة والتجدّد، كما لا تخلو من المعلومة والمعرفة والحكاية والتحليل.
