يُبحر هذا الكِتاب في تُراث الشعر الشعبي والنبطي في الكويت خلال الفترة من عام 1836 وحتى 1969م، ويعرض لِنتاج 60 شاعرًا لهم بصماتهم وإبداعهم، ومنهم شعراء كِبار أمثال عبد الله الفَرَج ومحمد الفوزان وحمد المغلوث وحمود الناصر البدر وصقر النصافي وفهد بورسلي وفهد بن جافور ومرشد البذال ورجا بن فزير وزيد الحرب ومنصور الخرقاوي وسليمان الهويدي وآخرين.
قصائد هؤلاء الشعراء تُمثل ملامح مرحلة هامة من تاريخ المـجتمع من شظف العيش وفترة مهنة الغوص حتى ظهور النفط، وكانوا يُمثلون منابر إعلامية عندما لم تكُن هُناك أجهزة إعلام.
ومن ذلك التراث رصَدنا رسائل وحِكم ووجدانيات سُجلت في الفصل الثاني، وفي الفصل الثالث عرض لكلمات غابت عن اللهجة المحلية استخدمها الشعراء.
