كان العقيلات يُصدّرون الماشية من الإبل والخيل والغنم إلى الحجاز، ويصدّرون المنتجات الزراعية كالتمر والحبوب، ويُصدّرون المنتجات الحيوانية كالسمن والإقط، ثم يعودون إلى القصيم محملين بالبضائع التي تحتاجها بلادهم.
كما يتطرق البحث إلى المهام السياسية الكبيرة التي تصدى لها العقيلات سواءً في وطنهم القصيم؛ أو في مناطق الصراعات المحيطة بهم.
